IT Technician II
Description:
IT Direct is seeking an experienced, energetic, and hard working information technology professional to assist in serving the Information Technology consulting, network design, and support outsourcing needs of small and medium size (10-500 employees) businesses and non-profit organizations.
Once hired, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Troubleshoot hardware problems on multiple makes and models of desktop computers
- Work collaboratively with IT Direct's existing support team to address major hardware or software problems or defective products
- Show a basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking and troubleshooting routine network problems
- Work with end-users on the phone to troubleshoot software and OS problems in remote environments
- Maintain records of daily communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities using IT Direct's established systems
- Quickly learn new software products, work with end-users to resolve issues, and assist them in using software
- Administer basic network devices, and hardware print servers
An appropriate candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree / bachelors degree preferred)
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a helpdesk role providing PC support
- Working knowledge of workstation management in Workgroup and AD environments
- Ability to troubleshoot and understand Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows 2000, XP and Vista)
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office products, especially Outlook in Microsoft Exchange environments (2000, 2003, and 2007)
- Demonstrate patience and tolerance in working with end-users, both in person and over the phone
- Experience with network printers and setting them up on users' computers and troubleshooting connectivity
- Preferred Certifications: A+; Network+ and MCP
- Ability to install and support desktop systems and basic network devices (including hardware and software)
- Experience in supporting WiFi networking with WEP and WPA security
- Recent hands on experience
- Ability to multi-task and work on existing and emerging business technologies
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Desire to work in a fast paced and growing organization
- Ability to effectively communicate with non-technical staff regarding technical topics - including upper management level communication
- Developed written communication skills
- Desire to grow and advance a career in Information Technology network design, support, and management
